It's not only the final score that matters to me, it's also the play during the game. The men looked like they need Geritol.

Hardly surprising. They were straight off the plane from Canada. I'm useless with jet lag.

Really......then why are the men playing so badly and lose to Switzerland, yet the girls are 3&0 and playing for gold on Monday?

The way the men played today, they looked like they belong in ther geriatic ward of a hospital!

All that proves is that there is more parity in the mens game than there is in the womens game. It doesn't prove whether or not hockey is a mens or womens game. It proves the old addage that any team can beat any other team on any given day.

Can't argue with that one.
There is no doubt that on paper the Canadian men should have won hands down.

Other surprise losses by Canadian teams today.

Brad Gushue loses to Italy (Men's Curling)
Shannon Kleibrink loses to Japan (Women's Curling)

It's certainly not Canada's day so far.

Switzerland 2 - Canada - 0 - I couldnt even watch the last few minutes of the game - how pathetic is our mens hockey team.

Thank goodness we have the girls to depend on for a gold medal

Any sympathy karma would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you for that. Cant send any back to you yet but will!

I have a question. Is there a limit to the number of players that a team can have in the penalty box at one time?

Yesterday, we had 3 boys serving penalties one right after the other - so we had 2 only two players on the ice for a good period of time.

There is no limit to the number of players that can be in the penalty box at any one time. However there is a limit on the minimum number of players that can be on the ice. Normally there are six players per team on the ice the goal keeper and five skaters. The minimum number of players on the ice is four, the goal keeper and three skaters.

So if there are three or more in the penalty box the start of the timing of the penalties for the third man and later men into the box is delayed until one or more of the other penalties has expired. It can get a little confusing.

Cheers
Steve
