Quick question, if I send off the application to change my name to my new married name, and get a shiny new passport, will my passport number stay the same?

no it will be different.
my wife just did this between doing our medicals and sending off passports. i also renewed mine as i only had 1 year left on mine whereas now we both have 10 years!

Thanks So there were no problems with the CIC changing your wife's name name part way through? Sorry to be nosy but when you initially applied, were you married? If so, was your wife using her new married name on the PR forms, but just not renewed the passport? Reason I ask is because I got married last May and just never got round to changing my name on my passport, silly I know, as now we are just about to send off our FSW app and Im just wondering if it could cause problems when I change my name on the passport later this year? We really dont want to delay the PR application if at all possible. I use my married name on everything other than on my passport (which I havent used in ages).
