I have now contacted a few public notaries to get my certificates notarised. But all of them asking me the same question.
1. Do you need only certification of the documents as 'certified true copies'? OR 2. do you need us to verify them as genuine certificates by contacting the apporpriate instituition and then certify in addition?
Obviously the 1st one is less time consuming and therefore relatively cheaper...dare i say that.
Which service should I be requesting for FSW application docs to London?
please advise...

We have just certified our copies by a solicitor (1). We sent originals of the University transcripts and police certificates. As far as I can see, that is just what everyone else has done.
Hope this helps.

In relation to my recent PR application at London I had nothing notarised and simply had all the important stuff like passports/birth certificates signed as being true copies by a police officer. I did not get my educational certificates notarised but I don't think they were that important for my application as it is a PNP one from a job offer.

Most people either have 'Certified as true copies' or don't bother. Very few people from what I've seen get them Notarised, not surprising at £75 per document or whatever it costs!!
Personally i had them certified, which is acceptable according to the Visa Office Instructions, £30 for approx 15 docs. For what its worth I put one of the solicitors busines cards within my pack, probably over kill though....

is this true for every document, or only if you have a copy made? If you are sending originals, surely you don't need them certified? We're sending off our originals (marriage, University, police etc) ?
