LOL....catsup is what it is... Ketchup is a brand name of a type of catsup. At least that's what I've always been told.

Actually its niether, both are anglicised mispronunciations of a chinese or indonesian name for some fish sauce or something.

What you say is true...however for the purpose of this argument...in north america...catsup is the generic name for the tomato sauce commonly known as the brand name KETCHUP.
