hi i am at the early stages of the acceptance stage i have been accepted in the province and we are just waiting for medicals does anyone know any good companys to transport pets to canada also i found out that if you are going for good but decide to come back then the cats will need to have a pet passport to get back into the uk if they dont they will be put in quarenteen for 6months if anyone can help please email me on [email protected]

Continental airlines transports pets which you can check out at http://www.continental.com/travel/po...5D5B3A2E16CEB. For the pet passport (if you needed it to go back) you start by getting get the animal microchipped, then rabies vaccinated, then blood tested and then a 6 month wait before passport issued. (We weren't sure if we'd be returning to the UK so we did the microchipping and blood testing already so now if we keep up renewing the rabies certificates we'd be able to get a pet passport straight away without the 6 month wait.)

Also, keep an eye out for some of the other messages on transporting cats and dogs, as some of the others have used different flight routes for their pets. It's usually OK to book your pet direct with the airline rather than use specialised pet carriers.

I'm really late on this. I moved from London (UK) to Spain last year and brought my cats with me. They had to have the Pet Passport cert which is the forms obtainable from the Ministry of Food Farms and Fisheries. Then they have their rabies jabs, microchips fitted and a final vet check before you move them.

I booked mine direct with BA. It was a bit of a nightmare as the airline offloaded me and the cats. When I took them the next day everything was fine and they arrived safe and well. I was more worried than they were.

I'm moving to Toronto in the new year and will be taking the poor old things with me again. It's a longer journey with a connection in London, but having done it before I'm nowhere near as anxious.

The acutal Pet Passport isn't really that at all. It's just proof that your pet has been vaccinated and microchipped along with the export and or import cert.
