Default Caster sugar

Has anyone seen any caster sugar in the shops? I've not found any. I want it to make some marzipan.

Yes, it should be there, I have found it called berry sugar!
Apparently whizzing regular white sugar in a food processor can have the same effect too!
I also found marzipan in safeway the other day!
Hope you find it!

Thanks.

Last year I used a mixture of granulated and confectioner's sugar. The result was edible, but the texture wasn't good. I don't have a food processor, so that option is not available to me.

If I can't find any caster sugar this year, I'll use all confectioner's sugar, but you've given me hope. It would never have occurred to me to use "berry" sugar.

It is called berry sugar or extra fine sugar...I bought some last year in Safeways and Walmart If you read the back of the package, it says also called caster sugar.

I just use their regular sugar as I find it is pretty fine and much more like caster sugar than granulated as we would know it.

I agree the regular granulated is finer than in the UK, but it still makes rather gritty marzipan.

Extra fine sugar is the same, I've found it everywhere - Have even bought it at times to replace usual, normal, sugar when the stores sell out of the stuff.

I've found that the Atlantic Super Store's extra fine sugar is practically the same as caster sugar, whereas Sobey's fine sugar isn't the same. We're in Nova Scotia.

I've just bought some Rogers Berry (extra fine) sugar. It does look like caster sugar, and I'm sure it will make better marzipan than granulated.

Thank-you everyone.
