Default Case Rejected: Advice Needed

Hi Everybody:

I had applied for the Residency last year and got a letter today that my case has been rejected because of insuffienct funds. But I had sent a statement indicating that I have over $7400 US dollars in my account.

Is it possible to appeal for reconsideration or is this decision final

Could be grateful if the experts could update me on this.

Thanks

If this is the only reason and you proved with the application and/or when
later requested that you have minimum funds required then you may have a chance
to overturn this decision. Immediately hire experienced professional to assist
you as clock is ticking fast...

Can someone tell me why CIC reject people for financial reasons? I don't
understand because $7900 US dollars sound a lot of money to me. Do
Independent applicants have to prove that they are rich when they first send
in their applications? I thought applicants only need to show they have
enough money at the time of landing. Please clear my doubts. Thank you!

Applicants are required to provide proof of funds with the application as well.
More, under new law proof of funds is a pre-requisite, together with at least 1
years of continuous full time skilled work experience. Lack of any of those two
will lead to refusal at the paper screening or initial assessment stage without
any further processing. Please read instructions carefully.

Mr. Miller,

Thanks for clearing my doubts. I applied for immigration as a skilled worker
last Nov. At the time I submitted my application, I had about $5,000 CND in
my bank account. I didn't pay attention to the funds requirement. Can you
tell me under the old law, do I have to provide proof of funds when I submit
the application?

By the way, I was working in Canada at that time and I did provide
information about my salary. (However, I lost my job this June)

I do have over $10,000 dollars now, do I need to send the proof to them now?
( Nhave not received assessment letter yet)

Thank you for your help...

and it's a sensible precaution too. While $7,400US might sound a lot and
just meet the minimum have a read of some of the posts from recent
immigrants and their difficulty in finding employment. If you get say a
place to rent for $700a month inclusive which is pretty cheap really and
then you faction in food bills, travell etc and even end up spending say
$2000 a month then a minimum of $12,000 is gonna only last you a year and
chances are you expenses will be more than that with things like depositsm
paying first and last on youre rent, possibly having to secure a credit card
to get a credit rating to be able to rent and costs of job searching and
things.

Yes, proof of funds had to be submitted with the application under old law as
well. If you have more money now then send updated statement to visa post
pronto...
