Are you just emailing them? Or phoning them as well? If the former, that could be where you're going wrong - read the Job Hunting section of the Wiki to understand how to go about finding the all important job offer.

Good luck.

there no such thing as 1st and 2nd fix carpentry companies mores the pity...lots of main contractors employ their own carpenters..its either shuttering or millwork carpentry...if you are looking for work outside main contractors.

Yeah sorry for not being very clear, im looking for companies would employ a site carpenter, 7 years experience, 1st and 2nd fix, rennovations/ new build, domestic and commercial. Self employed contracting or employment dont really mind. BTW im not a shuttering carpenter but could probably throw my hand to it if that is what is needed over there.
cheers

Then you need to approach main contractors rather than specialist firms..possibly be classed as a journeyman carpenter..you would have to check out the different grade carpenters..apprentice up to level 4.

Not sure if you'll need your Red Seal as a carpenter, but that's something to check.

Good luck.

I know of 3 in the community I live in. Their kids attend a school that one of mine attends.

Their impresssion was that, if you have worked as a carpenter in the UK, you will have little difficulty in finding work and retaining such work in Calgary.
