amydavid thanks for that didnt think about sending a follow up email. i did a canadian style resume on canada job bank website and sent that.hope its ok:fingerscrossed:

lol I think I had a brain fart when I posted that earlier - I was supposed to say you need to follow up with a phone call!

AmyDavid is absolutely correct, if you really can't get out there (although that is by far the best way to do it and how most on here get their job offers) then you need to phone - personal contact!

If the job ad specified email applications only, then do that, but you can also contact other companies by phone or in person. In this Wiki there is a step by step guide, including finding suitable companies and 'cold calling' them.

Email applications are very rarely succesful if you are abroad I'm afraid.

The OP was obviously looking for help - you might think his question was not very targeted and that you've seen it hundreds of times before. Fine. So why not leave the posting to someone who can say something helpful?

My response was born of frustration at seeing people constantly getting shot down for asking the 'wrong' questions. I've thought this many times but not posted as, and I agree with you here, it isn't helpful.
