Car Insurance in Ontario
Hi guys,
I am looking for car insurance, I have 10 years NCD & my husband has more and was a named driver on my policy in the UK. I have my documents to confirm this and am looking to purchase a small 4 x4 2007 reg. Can you recommend any insurers who who would take my driving history into account and any tough ideas of how much we are likely to pay.
Much appreciated - been in Oakville 2 weeks now and sooo friendly.

Meant rough ideas above, not **tough**, though I guess the price I'm gonna have to pay is just tough

Do an 'advanced search' for Ontario car insurance - there are many threads!
If you have bought your drivers extract and proof from insurers in the UK, you may be able to get some of your history taken into consideration.
I have 'heard' on the forum that Johnson are your best bet for having previous history taken into consideration but have no experience of them. My son's friend got a reasonable deal from TD Insurance, it was certainly cheaper than other companies.

We got a good deal with TD, better than Johnson.

No they didn't but it still turned out cheaper than with Johnson. I think we only payed around $240 a month for fully comprehensive on a Dodge Grand Caravan and 2 drivers. And then $190 a month in the 2nd year. Having said that, me moaning about 40 quid a month in England seems ridiculous now

Johnsons!! They took into account our UK history and we were paying $200 less than our first canadian car insurer. I had a small accident and my rate didn't increase as they have first accident insurance, it was handled quickly and painlessly! My rep is Courtney, she's awesome!

Who do you have a Bank account with over here, and do they offer Car Insurance? You might get a better deal if you take it out with the same bank.
From what others have said, Johnsons seem to be a good bet for newcomers.

You don't have to bank with TD to use them for insurance.
Just sayin'

We ended up getting our best quote through Aviva, they also give you good discounts if you have a 2nd car or go with them for home insurance too. Still yikes costly all in though!
