Default Car Insurance ...

Hi
Important question for me and others:
If I reach Ontario as PR (skilled worker) I have driver licence from my country and as far as I know I can drive a car up to 60 days using my licence.
Can I buy and register a car without Ontario Driver licence ???
If not, what for is the perrmission to use other country driver licence if you have to pass Ontario Exam to buy a car ??????

thanks for your comments

Unless I'm sadly mistaken there is no need to be able to drive to own, register or insure a car. There doesnt seem any point to me of doing those things if you cant drive but hey thats not really the point is it.
So put simply no you dont need an Ontario drivers to buy and register a car.

Absolutely true. Got my first car here before my Ontario license....must have, I took my test in it. I dont recall though how (or how much) I got insurance for it without a provincial license.

I just picked up my new motor today!

you can buy the car without an ontario license (as long as its a cash buy and not on lease or finance in which case they will require a local drivers licence)

However, I was unable to obtain insurance without a local licence....I therefore traded my uk licence for a canadian one in ontario (this can be done on the spot for a small fee ...in my case $75)

I leased a new vehicle before I got a ON license. Maybe its changed since or maybe it depends how desperate the sales guy is to make his quota. There was a large security deposit on it, I remember that much!
