Car Hire from Halifax

Car Hire from Halifax
Hubby & I are planning a recce visit to Nova Scotia for 2 weeks in Sept/Oct this year.
I've been looking on the web & all the usual ones come up but was wondering if anyone could recommend a particular company, be it one of the main ones or otherwise?
Would prefer to pick up car out of airport as cheaper that way (got stung big-time from Calgary airport with Thrifty a couple of years ago!).
Cheers in advance Arris

Hi
We booked our car through Canadian Affair when we were over last year and have booked again for this trip, they used National and the price was good even from the airport and we got upgraded
Not sure who you are flying with, but I think you can just book car hire on its own if you wish with CA

We flew with Air Canada and used them for car hire which got us a discount from Hertz, they even offered us a choice of vehicle on arrival

When we first came over we got a car from Budget at the airport - didn't prebook. Good rates and choice of cars too. There should be details on the airport site for all the companies, so you could at least browse for prices.

and if you are using Air Canada or Westjet or whoever in fact - see if you can get a few more aeroplan or airmiles with the car hire too ...

Re: Car Hire from Halifax
We have always used www.wheelsabroad.com each time we have visited Canada, both in Ontario and from Halifax airport too.
They came up the cheapest every time for us. They are really helpful if you need to call them up and check out the details. I was really confused with the collision waiver thing and they really helped me understand what it was all about.
They also included spouse as a driver at no extra cost whereas booking direct with the car companies, that was always extra.
So just be aware when comparing prices what is included on each package so that you are comparing like for like.
Oh and have a super great trip

Picking up away from airport may be cheaper unless you have to find alternative transport into the city which will cost alot. Do you have a lift?

I used hotwire.com for Halifax car rental 2 years ago.
Very good prices.
Also take a look a priceline.com

Thanks guys for all the replies - lots to have a look at
Londonuck, if Hubby could be guaranteed one of those as a free upgrade, he may reconsider Thrifty
Cheers Barrett, we'll see you at the airport & pick some Peroni's up on the way back

Got the same deal with Thrifty in Edmonton about 4 years ago, upgraded to a Chrysler 300.
Some friends who were visiting from Dublin called it the "Mafia Staff Car".
