Oh and one other tip. We went to Milan last May and hired a car via the airline we flew with at the same time as booking the flight. There was about 200 people on the plane and it seemed like all 200 had done the same and used the airline to get their car hire. We were in the queue for 2 hours, the flight was only 90 mins! There were no queues for any of the other car hire desks. Worth remebering. We will nevr book via the airline preferred partner.

Why dont you take the booster with you? we always take the car seats (even the really bulky Britax Club class has flown with us on numerous occasions) Just wrap them in plastic at the airport and they are checked in with the rest of your baggage. Airlines are fine with this as you are allowed up to 2 checked in pieces each. We hired through cars abroad last year (part of Dial a flight) no excesses like some of the companies. Good luck
Thanks for all the replies.

We had thought of this and intended to pack it - I hadn't thought of using it on the plane - what a great idea !!
