Re: Canadians v Americans
I dont notice much if any difference for the most part for the average person. Only things thats really different at all is form of government, but my life isn't any different here then on the other side of the border for the most part,

Six years living with an American in Canada. The locals never notice the difference and often say things like "We had some Americans in here and they...".
I can tell a Newfie accent from a Brooklyn or Texas one but telling Americans in general from Canadians, nah.

What do you mean by American?
WASP, Black, Hispanic?
Southern, Western, Eastern or Mid-west?
Liberal or Conservative (Our conservatives are west of their liberals)
NRA members?
Sure, middle class white folk are the same both sides of the borders.

You seem to be saying there is more difference within the countries than between them. Hmm, maybe you are right.

Most people in the west think of Toronto as a big US city anyway
I've met plenty of people from Montana ... might as well be talking to someone from a prairie province.

Re: Canadians v Americans
Less difference between a west coast Canadian from Vancouver and an American from Seattle, than there is comparing them to someone from Toronto.

Re: Canadians v Americans
Americans are benevolently ignorant about Canada, while Canadians are malevolently well informed about the United States.
