Personal Video Recorder AKA Digital Video Recorder. You watch while it records elsewhere. Some allow recording more than one channel at a time.

Hey on average 12-14 million brits tune in to these soaps.
If it's a special story line it can be anything up to 18 million.

Hardly crap.

Just cos lots of people do something doesnt make it any less crap. Milllions play the lottery every week too.

Did it occur to you they would watch a dancing monkey if it was on in prime time..Come to think of it thats basically the premise of all "Reality TV"

If TV is a major plank in your life, then emmigating is going to be a nasty shock to the system.

Mainstream Canadian TV is basically mainstream US TV.

I'll admit I am a bit behind the times on the technical side of things, but they keep on changing things before you have got time to get used to the current fad :frown:

Visiting Americans complain that it's edited US TV, the best bits don't appear.

Specifically, the highlight of the television year, the adverts during the Superbowl, aren't shown.

This years Celebrity Big Brother was definately a fix. Verne AKA Mini Me was a massive favourote to win, yet one of the least popular Ulrika Johnson won.
Big disapointment

You have to give Britain its props for being a world beater when it comes to TV line up.

Where is your Ant and Dec

Though I may be the wrong person to bug for advice considering out of your original list I would maybe watch a little of BB and DoND.

Essentials watching here for our house all on my PVR:
24, Heroes, House, Life, The Office, My Name is Earl, Hockey Night in Canada

Then watching or ready to watch DVDs of:
Entourage, Mad Men, The Shield, The Wire, Flight of the Conchords, Prison Break, Lost, Alias & Veronica Mars

Quite.

As I understand it, the two US soaps you mention are daytime crap, as opposed to the primetime crap in the UK list you provided.

According to your profile, pgtips, you live in the Caribbean, so are presumably used to US TV. I call "troll."

Personally, I find this a rather sad statement on people when they are looking forward to adverts during a sporting event (I find NFL (and CFL) to be rather done and a lot of hype) and get all in a tizzy if certain adverts aren't shown on Cdn TV and they resort to grey market dish reception to watch the advert....hint they are all on You Tube the next day.

Agreed. The Ant and Dec reference over-egged what was already quite the pudding.

Apparently there's some reason why they're not going to be allowed to replace the ad's down here - I'm not sure of the reason, may be the proximity to the border or something, I didn't understand what they were saying....

Not sure why the superbowl is the exception as they seem to do it on a lot of other things...
