Agreed. I wonder how they're getting on. Property rich, I imagine, though I hated that commute and don't envy either of them on that score.

Sorry, I am not yet familiar with the Canada expats "jargon". Just understood the PR (permanent residence?) and WHV must be working something visa... What is PNP?

Sorry about that - was typing in a hurry.

VAR = Value added reseller
PNP = Provincial Nomination Program
WHV = Working Holiday Visa (called IEC now I think; International Experience Canada or something)

I landed in Vancouver in Jan 2013 and landed a helpdesk / Level 1 Support role within a month through an agency. It wasn't working out so last August i switched to a new company. There are a fair number roles out there as I found out when I decided to start looking for my 2nd role, sometimes you just have to be a little patient until something that suits comes available
