It's not just words but pronunciations.. I guess I'll know I've arrived when I can say 'garaaaarge' instead of 'garidge' !

I have been told I am 'cute' when I say 'cheers' or say 'give me a ring'. Here in Canada they tend to give you a call, not a ring, if something is sweet it is good, and if something is cute it is sweet.

I have managed to teach one friend a new word however. She loves the word 'grotty' and has been evangelically teaching it to all her friends, so maybe it will eventually dripfeed into the culture here - my little contribution!

She however uses the word 'leery' when she means 'wary' - I can't stand that - it sounds like a lecherous old man or something!!

I say vive la difference!
