Canadian citizens returning - how long b4 govt health coverage kicks in in NS?
I think this varies by province but haven't yet figured out how long we have to wait before we are covered by the provincial medical system in Nova Scotia. Does anyone?
We've been gone nearly 10 years and are permanent residents (dual citizens) in the UK. As I understand it there's some time before we'll be covered by the health system in NS when we arrive (relocating there soon) - and so need to be sure to have travel insurance from the UK to cover us for this period.
Insight on this much appreciated. Thank you.

Moving to Nova Scotia from outside Canada
If you are a returning Canadian Citizen or a returning "Permanent Resident" moving permanently to Nova Scotia from outside Canada, MSI will provide first day coverage.

I wonder why I thought this - perhaps it's the case in Newfoundland and Labrador, where I'm originally from, as I recall being told something along those lines when back there.. Anyway, thanks for this helpful info.
