Canada V UK: stuff happens

Yesterday, my wife and I went shopping...arrived midday at a rather pleasant upmarket town in 'middle England' which also has a decently sized international tourist market. Basically, a nice, smart, decent place where you expect to find 'decent people'.
We found a car park which was rammed full apart from two spaces. We pull into one space, my other half roots around for spare change and realises she hasn't any. Pops across the road while I sit in the car.
Next thing, a car pulls in next to me and a lady parks up at all angles, very close to the front of ours. She just about manages to get out and in doing so 'bang' knocks her door on mine. I get out to examine the damage and at the same time my wife returns with parking ticket. Lady returns and as I ask her why she knocked her door against mine, she has her keys at the side of her handbag and scrapes them down the side of my car (not deliberately, but even so I was not impressed).
Anyway I won't regale the blah of the conversation but to say she was arrogant, self important and had a mouthful of plums is an understatement.
She said she was far too busy to discuss this matter and that there was no damage so what was my problem.
We left saying "OK you agree there is no damage now, your registration will be taken, I will inspect the car on return and if there is any damage I will use a digital camera to photograph it. Any damage will be reported to the police".
Basically, the attitude of some people is that they don't give a flying toss about anyone else. Not an apology, not an admission of guilt, and not a care in the world.
If it had been a snotty chav in an old Escort I might have expected that, but I guess it takes all sorts to act like XXXXXXX !!!
The message is, wherever you are, whatever you are doing with your life, you come across the same kinds of crap all over. If this had happened to us in Vancouver, or Kelowna, or Calgary, and we were driving in a hire car, would it have made Canada a bad place ?
Needless to say that started the day off badly and it just made me think.
Bad stuff = anytime
Bad stuff = anywhere
Bad people = everywhere
Good people = everywhere

Middle England, upper class English "lady", complete with the proverbial plum in her north and south...what would you expect? I bet she is one of the first to condemn, in typical haughty manner, the behavior of football hooligans or drunken yobs pouring out of the pubs of England late at night and causing mayhem for the constabulary and decent people. Personally, I see no difference between her and what she looks down on in her hypocritical way. Canada, here I come....
