I think it fair that no one notices Canada. The good and the bad about Canada is that not many people live there and nothing very much ever happens. I think though that it's a shame that Canada doesn't notice the rest of the world.

Everything in Canada, and this post is a fine example, is expressed in reference to the US. Africa, for example, might as well not exist; it'll only make the news in Canada if the US invades it. Don't get me wrong, I love America, I'm grateful to America, but I wish Canadians would be a bit less parochial, there are other places in this world.

Three major news stories at the Beeb for the past 4 weeks when you search 'Canada'.

Most of the results are from the H2G2 'encyclopedia' and make much better reading.

At least the Australians get drunk, wrestle sharks and chuck them on the barbie, I can't think of any Canadians who've done the same to grizzly bears .

Vaguely in this vein, I happened by the area where people sit until called for part of their security clearance. When I got off the elevator I thought, "Hey, we're hiring football toughs to work for us." The group of about half a dozen looked like every cliche of a British hooligan you could find. I hope they all pass their tests and get hired on here. They looked like a fine group of lads who will do well in Calgary.
