Oh yes, I absolutely agree. I think that, if the equity bubble in British housing collapses so immigrants don't get a large one time boost by selling there and buying here, the case for emigrating looks pretty weak. It may be that in individual circumstances moving makes sense but in the general case it's not clear what's to be gained.

I would hope that if people are seeking large mountains, they would do the research which would show them that large mountains only exist in BC and western Alberta.

I do wonder how many people do little to no research and just assume that one can find parallels to Rockies type scenery anywhere in Canada. If dramatic mountainous scenery is on the agenda, all of Ontario (and Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, and Nova Scotia, etc.) should be very low on your list. Vancouver or Calgary should be at the top instead.

You can think of it in a different light. Imagine a Canadian being lured to Europe with postcards of the Alps and the French Riviera. Now imagine them finding themselves in Coventry wondering where the palm trees and mountains are!
But, if mountains are the draw, why consider Canada? UK citizens already have working papers for countries with mountains.

A fair point. I think Canada is a target because of the lure of mountains AND speaking English innit

As has been said many many times here before, scenery is nice, but you cant eat scenery.

But, if that's what is important to you then structure things here to be relatively close to the scenery and relatively well paid...That's the attraction of heading to Vancouver or Calgary for many.

Mountains were our draw.

There is no other place in the world atm that offers the career opportunities to our professions coupled with world class skiing, than Calgary.

What about Denver? There's an oil and gas boom in Colorado and they have slopes.

Granted though that for some people the combination of language and relative ease of immigration make Canada a viable working and skiing destination.

If you're in Canada look at some money. That's the Queen of Canada.

She's too good to ask for herself I guess...

Does this mean when she snuffs it that all our passports will be invalid?
