I interpreted the italics as emphasis. How do you make a connection between charity and more prone to violence and coercion? euphemistically of course.

I seem to have said (way back) that "some religions are less charitable than others" by which I meant less kind or less forgiving. I think it's fair to say that forgiveness is an underlying theme in Christianity whereas obedience and revenge are common themes in Islam. To my mind that makes one more charitable than the other. Not that I subscribe to either system.

I don't have much time for relgions but hate to see an entire group of people vilified because of the actions of a minority of extremists.

Nevertheless the extremists have many anti-thetical values to Western culture, particularly towards women you may have noticed. Liberals in the West ought to have a bit more backbone against these threats and injustices.
