I should imagine that those who ticked the last two boxes, have been here longer than the others (i have been in North America for 21 years).
I remember the first 10 years here and my feelings of long term which are quite different than now. Time tends to develop a deeper committment to a place, one may have kids, meet a significant other, forge friendships, start a successful business or excel in a career etc Moving away can be further complicated by kids who are now Canadian, a Canadian spouse who's parents are aging here ....etc
In some sense I feel trapped at times by my job, which is really the only thing that holds me here. I often ponder what's down the road. I can retire in 9 years and may have a different view of things then ...but then again I may not.
I don't feel beholden to anyone place and quite frankly go where i feel content. It's hard to shake off a connection to the UK though, what with family still there.......

There should be a "I wish I'd never come but now I'm here I'll put up with it" choice.
For us it's similar shit in prettier surroundings with less money.

We've been here 33 years and can't imagine living anywhere else full-time, but I'd be a snowbird if the opportunity arises.
