Canada is calling!

Hi all,
Big hello to you all and if this was a bar the first round would be on me!
What a great forum, there's quite a few out there but this one is by far the best. Anyway, less of the flattery.....
I live in Shropshire with my OH and after a fair bit of research and a couple of visits to Canada we're going for it. We're filling out the forms at the mo. We're applying under the SW process and are truly deflated by the long wait so in the meantime we've decided to look for work and apply for a WP.
My OH is a medical secretary and I'm about to start training for my HGV/LGV licence with the Territorial Army (I'm planning to be a trucker). I've figured that even after being awarded my licence, getting at least a years experience as a full time driver under my belt and applying for a truckers job (or similar) I'll still beat the SW timeline. That's the theory! Then again my OH may well get a job offer too. It just seems to me this is the quickest way forward at the mo.
Anyway, looking forward to being part of this fun forum.

Welcome. We are pretty much in the same situation - we are looking for employment and a helpful employer willing to do the LMO and PR process as the long wait is too much.
Good luck to you.
Rob.

Hi Flatbob,
Also in rainy Shropshire.
There is a Midland Meet up on 7th July near Kiddi if you and your other half are around.
I think the thread was called 'Midland Meet-Up' and was posted by gibbos1. My hubbie and I are hoping to attend. Just nice to meet other like minded people, compare notes and sympathise re timescales!
