I keep looking though ..... where's Mrs BC? :p Aus never appealed to me, but we came here (Calgary) cos we visited and liked the place rather than any burning desire to quit the UK. My kids (14 and 19 when we landed) say why didn't we come years ago!!!! |
Re: CANADA OR AUSTRALIA
Now, now don't be picky ;) Anyway, have you not seen those heroic ( is that spelt M.A.D.) guys who drive trucks over the ice to take supplies to places you and I would only have nightmares about?:p

SO I HAVE BEEN LOOKING AT SUNSHINE COAST IN AUSTRALIA AND NOVA SCOTIA IN CANADA.. WE ARE LOOKING FOR SOMEWHERE THAT HAS GREAT SCHOOLS AND ACTIVITIES FOR THE KIDS, GOOD JOBS FOR CARPENTER AND GOOD HOUSE PRICES AND A GOOD WAY OF LIFE E.G TIME FOR THE FAMILY. CAN ANYONE GIVE HELP OR ADVISE OR EVEN IF YOU HAVE BEEN IN THE SAME DILEMA. I AM NEW TO THIS SITE SO WOULD APPRECIATE ANY HELP THANKS  Our dilemma was to move or not, and the biggest help was to be very clear about what we wanted, to forget location and comparing places, and just think about what was important to us. Because like you said all places have their negatives just check out the moving back to Britain pages on the forum. Here's your list, and some ideas of what I would ask to make them more specific. You will be surprised at how once you have more detail, one location starts to become a more obvious choice. Distance from 'home' - why is this important to you? what affect will this have?, how important is it? Great schools - in what respect, how would you quantify this? grades? class size, subjects covered? activities for the kids - what acitivties do they like? what do you want them to do? Good carpentry jobs - salary required, conditions, hours, holiday etc Good house prices - house size, criteria, price, mortgage rate Good way of life - how would you describe a good way of life, what do you imagine doing?, what would you have? who would be there? More time as a family - how much time, weekends, holidays, what about extended family? Use this list to begin checking out your locations, Gold Coast and Nova Scotia, one good thing is they are quite different, so might make the decision easier. Really interested to hear what you decide:) |
