Question Can Somebody Please Help

Hi
My family and I are trying to get everything together to emigrate to Canada and we thought we knew what we were doing, just fill in a few forms and that would be it, oh how wrong we were, can anybody please go through step by step with us what we have to do, and when as we have looked on every site that we could find and we are getting more and more confused, with what fees need paying and when, what currency do they get paid in, if in Sterling where do you get the conversion rate from, if in Dollars how do you do that? I would be really grateful for any help as we really want to do this but are getting disheartened with not knowing what to do
Many thanks
Anna-Maria

AM, you will get more joy posting on the Canadian immigration forum. But to answer your initial question, the amount is detailed on the forms and on the CIC site in the exact Can Dollar amount. You have the choice of paying the Landing Fee and App Fee together at the start or holding onto your Landing Fee until requested.

Best of luck on the immigartion forum.

What Tangram said.

If I recall, though, you must pay the fees in C$. All you need to do is go to your bank and ask for a money order for C$XXXX made payable to ZZZZ.

Hi,

We've just sent our app off so can help you here! You need to get a bankers draft/money order from your bank for the amount in Canadian Dollars ($1100 I think for skilled worker app for 2 adults), made out to The Receiver General for Canada (if I remember correctly! - look on the app forms pages it tells you the proper wording).

This then goes off in the post with your application form, and if you're using a representative you also send in the form with their details on.

Then sit back and wait for the brown envelope to tell you how long to wait - we're still waiting for the envelope!

After that I think with the new system they will write to you to request various proofs (eg. proof of education, police records, medical etc.) as they get to it.

Good luck!
