Hi all,
This forum looks great and what I have been looking for.
My wife and I are beginning the process of applying to emigrate to Canada. I am 36, my wife 34 and we have two young kids 4 and 6.
I am a Web Manager in local government in the UK with 2 years experience in this role. I have a 3 year degree and qualifications in Agile PM and Leadership & Management.
My wife is a qualified teacher (attained 12 years ago roughly) and has been working with adults and children with learning disabilities and behavioural problems for the past two years. Unfortunately her hours for this do not equate to 1500 yet.
My question is would a firm like Campbell Cohen help us get PR? Has anyone used them and would recommended them?
In particular I am interested in their assistance around job searching. Looking at our potential CRS score I think combined we will get in the region of 310-320 so I will need a job offer in advance.
Any advice or help greatly appreciated.

Hi, welcome to BE.
Most on the forum don't use consultants, they just do it themselves, and as you'd first go over on a TWP and then apply for PR once in Canada, I'm not sure I'd use a consultant until you get to that point personally. I just can't see any need to pay somebody to help you with a TWP given they can't charge you anything for helping you to find work (it's illegal for them to), so essentially you're paying them to do the LMIA app (which your employer has to apply for anyway, so you shouldn't be paying for) and then the TWP (which you can just get at the airport when you arrive, no form filling needed).
If you feel you need help once you get to the point of applying for PR, then that would be the time to hire a consultant.
Probably the best thing to do is to have a look at the Job Hunting section of the Wiki, and head out to Canada and see if you can find that all important job offer and LMIA. I'd assume your chances are much higher than your wife's, but I don't know if her working with special needs children might change the usual 'no hope of a teaching job' thing - something to perhaps check in another thread anyway?
Best of luck.

Thank you for your response.
So the trick to getting PR is getting a TWP first and then find a job once you are in Canada rather than do it all from the UK?
Sounds sensible. I hadn't even considered this option really, I guess I better do some more research :-)
