Hi Wendy,
you guys are trying to make your own "Little Britain"
We were very tempted by Fall River because it's a great area. The realtors we saw in Halifax all rcommended it too.
I'd love to join in the cricket....well atleast watch But count me out of the maypole dance and morris dancing I'll watch that on CBC!

Anyway get youselves better soon... you've got to enjoy your last British Christmas!

Hi Crispie,
the last thing i want is a little Britain, hope it doesn't sound like i do.
Nice to have people in same boat as you to talk to, but we are going to make a big effort to get to know the locals. When we move into the house we buy we intend to invite all street for drinks to get to know everyone.
Oh By the way, don't no the rules for cricket will need help!!

I know you don't want a little Britain and I hope you know I'm teasing. But it's quite a coincidence all going to the same area!
You hadn't mentioned the drinks invite for your neighbours. Now you really are trying to tempt us to Fall River.....just buy your house with a vacant lot nextdoor
I think this cricket match is a non starter! Now Torticat might help with the rules but as for being able to play then perhaps lets just drop it eh!

You are for ever cooking! I like you more and more
My vote is a pig roast with planked salmon for starters. Egg nog to drink and now cookies too! Yummmm
This flu thing must be a computer virus....it's spread to our house too. Not me yet but Sarah's got something! She sounds like a man when she speaks.....very disconcerting
Try and stay well!

Cricket!! one of the only things I miss about England..... Now if the next person over can just bring 22 players, a couple of umpires and a nice bit of lawn......

Now I hope this Fall river drink-up will be extended to include downtown Halifax residents??

Happy holidays to all and if we win that mega jackpot in Vegas the drinks will be on us!!

Talking Re: Calling Nova Scotia

Hi guys,

We have also just received info from a realtor in NS for development in Fall River. Hubby will be checking it out on his January visit. Other developments we've had recommended are in Lawrencetown, Hammonds Plains, Sackville and Bedford areas. Keep me posted, not played cricket for years!

Hi Cosmo

You might already know about it.. but have you looked at www.mls.ca

Narrow the search down to the exact area you want. Every property available!!

I'm going to Lawrencetown in Feb.

Hi BH PNP,

Yep, thanks, have spent many hours looking at "dream" properties on mls. We've been in touch with a realtor sho sent us info on new developments to fit our requirements. Not made any decisions yet, still considering all options and areas. Hubby and his friend (who is also hoping to go to NS) are on a reccie in Jan and will visit a few areas. Are you buying in Lawrencetown? What attracted you to that particular area?

Hi
sounds like we have the basis for a 'tip and run' team.Perhaps we could arrange a once a year game at the new leisure centre, directing a few locals to 'silly point' and 'short leg'.

If this is turning into a Little Britain, who's going to be the only gay in the village?

Cosmo, when is your hubby going out to Halifax in Jan,did he get good flight prices,i can't find any under £400 at the moment?
I'm trying to get over there mid/late Jan for a few days, to see the progress with our build in Fall River.
We fly out on the 6th May for good and it sounds like there will be at least some contacts for all of us next year.We should be ready for a summer BBQ at our place once all our stuff arrives in June/July.

Hi Mike,

We had some BA airmiles and also some Thomas Cook vouchers to use so Dave and Keith got their flights for nothing. Unforunatley BA don't seem go to Halifax from Manchester so they have to go via Montreal. Gives them a chance to see another city I suppose. Tony is also going with them and I think he paid £210 Manchester - Montreal return and then about £140 Montreal-Halifax return. They fly out from Manchester on 24th Jan and return on 1st Feb. Are you out there then?
Sounds like you'll be settled by the time we all go over for a summer reccie in July, perhaps we could have that game of cricket? It's nice to see that quite a few others are looking in similar areas to us. Do you have children Mike? Just wondering if you've done any research on schools etc?

Hi Sue
yes we have two boys 9 and 2 1/2(the 1/2 is important at that age!).
Our youngest will go part time to Becky's nursery in Waverley which we used in the summer and he loved it.
James will go to Holland Road for a year or two,we had a good look round in September and they couldn't have been more helpful and there was a really good feel about it.
