Has anyone imported a bike from Europe? Can this be done? I've had a little look on the government site and got a little lost.

It'll depend if it's a left or righthand drive. Some provinces won't register a righthand drive vehicle.

You'd of thought, but not the old British bikes. The brake & gear foot levers were the opposite of everyone else up until 1975 ish.

In fact come to think of it, my old mountain bike from the UK has the front brake lever on the right and the rear on the left. My neighbor borrowed it once and almost went arse over tit.

seriously, it must be the way the headlight dims on a m/c that defines it as RH or LH drive.

OK, so what makes a car LH or RH drive is which side you're sitting in relation to the centre line of the road and in the case of a UK car, not continental as they drive on the opposite side of the road as per US/CA, you sit on the right and headlights dip to the left .

Which side the controls on a m/c makes no difference as both feet work for either brakes or gears , doesn't make any difference why you're waggling yer foot around but does make a difference if you're blinding on coming vehicles with your headlight, likewise if you're in a RH drive car and trying to overtake on the LH side of a vehicle bit more of a problem.

That's where the difficulties arise because they are not set up for driving on the opposite side of the road.

lol a friend tried to bring an old chopper he built (80s frame ) when he came to Canada and put them on the goods to follow as ...2 wheels/tyres..... engine shovelhead #^^^^^,,tank ...etc ..guy at customs asked him if it was a Bike he was bringing in??? my mate said yes showed him a picture told him over 15yrs old not a problem to bring in.

Used to be, but not anymore. Most modern bikes don't have a biased deflection. Some older bikes did, some didn't.
