Default Calgary Wishes

Hi all.
Just managed to find this site and have already been overwhelmed with the amount of information on it. I thought we'd managed to amass quite a lot until now.
We're a family of 4, Georgie and Mark, with 2 sons aged 13 and almost 3.
We live in sunny Runcorn in Cheshire.
We applied under the Skilled Worker route in October 2007 along with our Permanent Resident application. We have receive confirmation of receipt of both from CIC in London.
We're looking at moving to Calgary or as close to it as possible.
We've already had a brief trip out there for a week in October 2007, and were more than pleased with what we are planning for our futures.
We just hope our plans, and those of everyone here, come to fruition sooner rather than later.

Hello and welcome! Best of luck with your application and research (this site is great). Hope it all goes smoothly.

What is your eldest son planning on doing just out of interest? Presumably he'll be university age when you move so is he going to go with you or stay in the UK? We've got a 1 year old and a 3 year old so don't have that dilemma thank goodness - they get no choice in the matter!!

Heh .... I don't suppose many 13 yr old boys even consider what they might want to do at 18! Maybe it's true to say that many parents of kids that age can't look that far ahead either. My son is 16, and doesn't know yet what he wants to do when he finishes school........

Anyway, they might well find a way to move out earlier than that .... don't frighten them too much!

Welcome to BE Hampson family! As a matter of fact, our elder boy was 19 when we came, having taken 3 years to do his A levels. He took a further year to get his Chem and Physics to High school grad standard here, and is now studying for an engineering degree at University of Calgary.

Like most boys his age, he just cares about getting out with his friends. He's doing reasonably well at school with his studies. We've spoken about what we'll consider doing if we get the nod before he finishes high school. He's more concerned about leaving his friends, but he realises that this is a good opportunity for all of us, and he WILL make new friends when we finally get over there.

Hello, Hampson family. We've already "met" each other in the Short Term Rentals thread.

Are you sure you want to do that, Greenstar?

Please see the Wiki entitled MISTAKES.

Once you've done that, a good starting point would be the Wiki article to which there is a link in my signature, below.

Hope that helps.
