Many of the major manufacturers/dealers offer leases. Your biggest hurdle will be a lack of credit history.

Not really, though for expensive purchases such as a car or house, a large deposit helps to give the lender some security in providing a loan or mortgage.

I moved here to start a business, and secured finance for machinery, mortgage for property and a credit line at the bank, but it was during better economic times ('05), and I put over 50% down payment on most items.

I didn't lease a vehicle in the first 12 months, nor could I get a credit card for a year.

Similar advice to R I C H,

I arrived march 2006, showed the Dealership my proof of funds, hit them with 40% cash deposit and there was my lease.

PS I am (for now) in Calgary
