I thought i always wanted to move to Calgary to be nearer the Rockies, but to be honest the smaller town feel of YEG is a plus. Perhaps when they build the new downtown arena by 2016 the downtown will actually start to resemble a downtown with some spark to it. Otherwise it's just urban sprawl with a Starbucks every now and then...same as Calgary.

The pothole's in Edmonton this year are a f***ing disgrace.
Get used to it... How do you think they're financing the arena?

I have lived in both cities..but nobody is interested in my opinion just of those who have flown over both cities once a few years ago on their way to Toronto or Vancouver.

Dunno mate,London, and Manchester are bigger sheetholes than Glasgow and Paisley lol.
I like the way that Edmonton is spread out,and theres no dog crap all over the pavements, the playparks aren't littered with smashed buckie bottles, and miss spelt graffiti etc..
Even the drunken native's sleeping next to bushes aren't as bad as the drunks back home.

yeah i suppose it's subjective though isn't it?

Calgary is very similar, infact am i right in thinking it's been voted Reuters cleanest city in the world on more than one occasion?

That said, i do notice a fair bit of grafitti in Calgary, mostly on the newsstands at bus-stops etc...

don't tend to see as many teenage drunks roaming the streets either, but i'm lead to believe they all sit in someones basement and get stoned instead!

Yeah, the city's all same, same, same...and so spread out! The river valley and Strathcona were alright, but for the most part it was generic and I was so happy to get home to Vancouver.

Well I find I don't have time to admire it while I'm driving around Edmonton, because the traffic actually moves. North Vancouver, especially around the bridges, is very pretty.

I don't need to drive in Vancouver, so I don't own a car - I walk or take the bus, so I have plenty of opportunity to soak up and appreciate my surroundings
