Default Buying Instant Coffee

Can anyone tell me where I can get decent instant coffee here in Calgary. The British food shops I have found so far only sell Nescafe or Kenco. I'm looking for Carte Noir if anyone sells it.

Isn't this a cardinal sin in Canada?

As far as i'm aware, instant coffee is illegal.

Yep, one cup machines are pretty common around here. You can get huge boxes of the coffee pods from amazon for pretty cheap.

I just do not understand the need for instant coffee, with the one cup filters, its more or less instant anyway.
Even the coffee bags are preferable to instant.

I used a MSR camping filter at work

It's a long way to go but Nescafe Instant in Greece is a million miles away from what's on sale here or the UK. It was as good as Filter coffee.

I remember reading that Instant coffee was better for blood pressure or cholesterol levels or both, allowing one to drink more without switching to decaf stuff. But I have a feeling that particular advice may have changed.

I remember Carte Noir as pretty good. There was another one in a black jar too - don't remember the name.

Nescafe's Alta Rica was always quite good. I've not seen it here though.

My boss (another grump old englishman) also prefers it. Something to do with lower caffeine levels than filter, so less jittery!

It appears we scared off the original postee

As the Mrs doesn't drink coffee there is often little point in brewing up a whole pot just for me. Instant works for those times where I want a coffee (rare as I generally drink tea at home). As I am not a coffee connoisseur*, Maxwell House instant suffices.

* I know enough to know that Tim Hortons coffee tastes like shit though....
