Yes, I went to Target last week too and was very disappointed after all the hype. Worse than Walmart I would say.

That's damming indeed. Maybe it has lost something in the Canadian translation.

I would say ikea, Walmart superstore, target for household items. Canadian tire are also good.

Dollarama in my opinion is rubbish, you pay for the quality and I don't think it's great in there.

When we first started we got many items from ikea.ngood quality and easy to build

How can you say Dollarama stuff is rubbish, yes there is some tat but Betty Crocker baking sheets for a third of the price, mixing bowls, wooden spoons, measuring spoons, pyrex style jugs all at prices cheaper than the exact same items in Walmart. We needed a new can opener, OH bought one from Crappy Tire is cost $12, it is crap. I took a chance the on the more expensive one in Dollarama, at a whole $2.50 I think, it is possible the best can opener I have ever had. They also have on occasions Baxters Relish and Chutneys, they haven't had it for a while though

I suppose some people think it's beneath them to shop in tat shops though.

Went to Target below the border last week, wasn't overly impressed.

Again cannot agree more about Dollarama, I got 12 of those chinese style foil containers with lids for $4, you absolutely can't beat it for the nick nacky kitchen stuff. I decked the trailer out with kitchen and bathroom things from there at a grand cost of $54.

Don't be precious shop around.

Plenty of the items in Dollarama is sold in other stores at 5X the price, not to mention items that other stores don't seem to carry. It's a good store for certain types of items.

i love Dollarama, all sorts of good kitchen odds and bits. My kitchen windowsill is resplendent with one dollar pots of sunflowers, that came in pots with soil....if it ever stops bloody raining in soggy bloody Fredericton, I shall plant them in the garden. Do you lot over on t'other side have Giant Tiger? I don't like that shop a bit.

Bit of a harsh comment, are people not allowed there own opinion? I don't like Dollarama, I think it has too much tat in there, my opinion. I don't think it's beneath me at all, I just don't like the shop lol

No dont think my comment was harsh at all especially as you said they only sold rubbish, which was untrue.

It's beneath me to go into Wal-Mart but I'm sitting in a warm and comfortable jumper from Target (needed, it's snowing here) and our chicks lived happily for a week or so in plastic storage bin, also from Target. We mostly get painting stuff, rollers, trays, the use-once and bin things, from Dollarama.

For big things the formula is something like:

- can we pay for it? If no, then get it at HD Canada and defer the bill for a year.

- can we carry it from America? If yes, get it from Lowes or HD in the US.

It's a rare item that costs more than $150 that's worth buying in Canada if you have cash to pay for it.
