Smile Buying a car? Read this first!

This article in Canadian Driver really cuts through the bullshit and gets down to the most important nitty gritty detail for buying a car best suited to Canadian lifestyle and conditions.

Very good read.

I especially liked this comment:

You'll need a passenger with oven mitts in a Mercedes-Benz SL 550 roadster; there aren't any cupholders

Surely if you have an SL550 you just have your man follow you around in the Range Rover with your coffee?

I saw an ad on TV recently comparing I think a Hyundai Santa Fe and a Range Rover and the Hyundai supposedly beat the Range Rover in the slalom and the accident avoidance but the Range Rover won in number of cup holders.

Thats cos the santa fe is a jacked up sonata or elantra ( i forget which), but the range rover is properly engineered for off road excursions (parking closer to the Polo presumably).

I wouldn't know or care I wouldn't buy either vehicle.

As for cup holders, a totally useless addition to any vehicle in my humble opinion.

Now if they can figure out how to mount a Blackberry to the steering wheel so I can text, while driving I'm on it.
