Default Business Related jobs?

Hi,

I'm looking to move to Canada (Specifically Alberta) in 3-4 years time. I will have a Business Management degree (BSc) and also a qualification in French (Not degree level, just studied alongside Business).

In the UK, I could expect to enter an intermediate position within a large business on a starting salary of about £20,000 (~$45,000). I'm not expecting that level of salary in Canada, but I was hoping someone might have an idea of what sort of salary I could expect to earn, what type of job & the avaliability of such jobs in Canada, specifcally the Alberta state

Many Thanks,

CD

If you are doing your full time degree now why don't you just go on a one year work visa when you complete and test the waters for yourself?

In the past two weeks I've met two chaps who've done just that

Hi Clare,

I'm starting my full time degree in September 04. To apply for a work visa doesn't one have to have a verifiable job offer in Canada?

What I meant was, trying to predict how much you might earn in 4 years time would be quite difficult and the availablity of that job.

Take the IT industry for example, nobody in 96-97 thought that the bubble would burst by 2000-2001.

So trying to predict 4 years into the future can be quite hard to do.

Ask nearer the time and you may get a more accurate answer

Hi Spongebob,

I must've phrased my question incorrectly. I was asking how much one could expect to earn if one moved there now with a BSc in Business Management, not in 4 years time.

The amounts I stated for the UK are for now, not 4 years time. Just wanted some comparable figures

Sorry for the misunderstanding!

One site I usually recommend is http://www.labourmarketinformation.ca/ - it has info. on job availabilty, general salaries, who hires in your area etc. so may be a starting point. You can occassionally come against problems getting Canadian employers to accept overseas qualifications although this is mainly for specialised areas like accountancy, law etc. but it is worth adding that as a warning. On the other hand you do get extra points on your application once a degree has been obtained. If you decide to claim reasonable fluency in French you may need to do a language test in an approved centre too.

Hope the website above helps!

sorry, not been checking the board properly and didn't see this.

I've met two people recnetly who've come over on one year work visas - and they've done something like this http://www.bunac.org/uk/workcanada/ check out the bit where it states you don't have to be a student
