Default Bus Tours form Toronto to Niagara

We chatted briefly about this a few months ago and I think it was DBD33 who had a tour company beside his office and was going to find out a contact for me????

My parents and parents in law want to do Niagara for the day and possible go on a tour that lets them OUT for a while at Niagara-on -the -Lake, not just drives through it. Any info out there peeps?

Also do they need to book a taxi from the airport in advance - is it cheaper or did someone mention a limo service?

They arrive 16th June - not long to go now

can answer the taxi one , niagara tour i will get back to you as I'm currently arranging the same for my parents!!!!

at pearson , there are two queues , taxi and limo.
both are priced fixed by destination , not time/traffic etc.

limos cost 10% more than a taxi , other than the fact that they hold more people , can't see the point myself.

the system at pearson is very civilised , they have people organising the queues etc , so no pushing in etc. It is no cheaper to prebook as the prices are fixed by the city.

I wouldn't stress about it , its one of the first thing my parents commented on , how organised and civilised it was.

There are plenty of companies that do this. Google a few and you should find a selection that describe their itinerary in some depth. I think they're much of a muchness. Although personally, if I had to do it again I'd be tempted to do it by car; traffic can be pretty nasty getting out that way and being stuck in a minibus with a witless driver droning on about planning regulation in the GTA whilst listening to fat American tourists stuffing their faces can be a bit trying.

Have you looked at the possibility of your parents and parents-in-law doing this by themselves? On one of our visits to Toronto we took the train to Niagara for the day - worked out a great deal cheaper than any arranged by a tour company. It also gave us the freedom to do and see what we wanted during the course of the day.

We did it with Grayline, although when I look on their website now I don't see a stop at Niagara-on-the-Lake so maybe that's changed? It was about 10yrs ago, cost 60-ish dollars per person, went to the falls, time to wander around there and the town, N-o-t-L (with at least 1 and 1/2hrs to wander around iirc), a winery, some cable car thing I can't even remember and back to Toronto. They picked up at all hotels including our cheapie. The guide was a student, very knowledgeable and thrilled to have some under 60s on his bus

I didn't forget. I looked at their bus and thought the better of naming them.

I vaguely remember Grayline costing about twice as much as everyone else when we looked into it. So they're probably better.

I'm probably going to bundle parents off on this one

http://www.grayline.com/Grayline/des...id=624&sid=555

however I believe this one stops off in Niagara on the Lake for longer

Package tour much better for my parents who have no sense of direction. This way they will not get lost!!!!!

Thanks everyone - dbd33 you may have saved them a horrible journey

Zoe let me know who your parents go with and which company. My mum and dad have been to Niagara and NOTL before and really loved the whole experience and wanted parents in law to see NOTL too.

Thanks for the info on taxis too - they can wait in line like everyone else then ha ha

Someone recommended that I use one of the 'casino tour' buses to get to Niagara. There is one called Safeway Tours which runs a coach service to Fallsview Casino from Downtown (I think their office is on Spadina Ave, they have no website).
Costs $30 return, and you get a $25 credit for the casino when you buy the bus ticket. My friend has used it a couple of times and says it's a bargain!
