Hi folks. I know that some of you have used hifx and the like to transfer big sums of money when you were about to emigrate to Canada. But obviously you also need to have a few thousand Cad$ on hand when you go to Canada. I've got two questions for you:
1. Is there any maximum amount of money(inside your pocket) you are allowed to take into Canada? How much?
2. What Bureau de Change(in UK or in Canada) did you use that have a good exchange rate?
Any ideas and recommendation is highly appreciated.
Cheers

If you bring more than $10k with you (cash), you need to declare it at customs, but I don't believe there is a limit as such.
We brought some cash and a load of travellers cheques and paid them into our new Canadian account for working money til we got the money from our house. And we used HIFX to transfer those funds over.

For tourist amounts of money Travelex appear to have a good rate. Check our their website as you order it online and pick it up from the airport before you leave.
