Default Bunac Extension query

My son is coming out on a IEC visa and is only allowed 2 attempts at it.
He never took the first year it was offered to him but he is going out this year hence second offer.
My query is Bunac say that they are not aware of conditions that allow a person to remain in canada after the IEC visa has elapsed.
My son wants to come out and find work and hopefully stay in Canada but may need a bit more time than the 1 year.
Second question the job he wants to do requires him to have a HGV licence , can he take a hgv test with an IEC visa.? He will have to get his drivers licence swapped over straight away to a BC licence but will he be able to take the HGV with a IEC visa . Anyone out there in the know, i would really appreciate your help.
Thank you

Did he apply for the first IEC and never take it? If the answer is yes then there are no options through Bunac or IEC to extend it. If this is the first one he has been on and not previously applied and been granted one, then he could apply for a second IEC from within Canada while he is on the one he is about to take. (hope that makes sense)

There is no possible extension through IEC or Bunac after you have had the 2. Other options would be a LMO (but his job would have to apply for this for him) or family class sponsorship (many means available). There are also work permits he can apply for if qualified through a points system but I am no expert in these, somebody else would hopefully be able to help.

As for the HGV, once he swaps over his UK license for a Canadian one he can take any form of Canadian driving test as far as I am aware. I dont believe the IEC would restrict his driving in any way.

Thanks for your reply , my son is a Mobile Crane Driver in England but to do that in Canada he needs to take his HGV first then do his Level B but he needs a sponser for that part. Just need some answers before he gets on that plane .

I don't think there is a problem doing a HGV licence while on the BUNAC. I was going to go to a truck driving school while I was on mine and I rang the company running the course and they said I didn't need a special visa for it. The only thing he will need is a full canadian drivers licence. I think with the UK it is only a matter of swapping over the licence in service canada. It took me a bit longer to get my divers licence being from Ireland (needed an authentic letter from my county council who issued my licence in Ireland and had to sit a test)

As far as I know if he is looking to get sponsored as a HGV driver he will need at least 2 years authentic experience already before they can apply for an LMO for him.

As far as extending the BUNAC visa if he has used up his 2 years he cannot. He can apply for a change of status to change to a different type of visa.

Not Service Canada. That is a federal organization and driver's licenses are a provincial thing. In BC you would go go a driver's licensing centre or a Service BC office.

My bad, when I was in Toronto I applied for my change of licence in 'service ontario', 777 Bay street.
