I am wondering if anyone else has ever applied for this programme or is applying this year.........

I have recently sent of my Visa application, but the 8-10 week wait is gonna kill me as i'm so anxious to know if i have been accepted. If anyone has applied, i'm just wondering the likely hood of acceptance and rejection, because for me, this is worse than waiting for a job offer.

Talking of job offers, i really want to get a career motivated job once i am over, ideally working in a bank, again i'm worried about getting a "real job" as opposed to the holiday jobs Bunac seems to want to advertise all the time.

Finally i'm worried about accomodation, and how long it mite take to find a place to live. I have been searching website and most seem to want to do credit checks and have references. Is there a way around this......

You may think i'm really worried, but im equally, if not more excited about this adventure and challenge...... I love Canada and everything it offers, and really cannot wait to be there. I wish the next 8 weeks would fly by and i can get on that plane tommorrow!!

(sorry - couldn't help myself - we had to wait three years for a permanent resident visa! Others will be along to help you in a bit I'm sure. Good luck anyway!)

Well i have recieved a conditionally acceptance already, and now i'm waiting for them to process my application, taking approximately 6 weeks. Maybe its quicker when applying via the IEC programme.

You need to go into the immigration section and look under International Experience Class. There is a huge thread on running for people in your boat.

In terms of finding a place to live it depends on how hard you look and what you are prepared to settle for.

With regards to finding a real job that will depend on how hard you look, luck and network building.

Hi, my year is just ending in Canada, I was on a bunac programme and as long as you have filled in the forms correctly I dont think there is anyway they would reject you. In regards to getting a career job the easiest thing would be to go to a temp agency. My girlfriend got a job with a trade union in vancouver and she has had that the whole time we have been here. So maybe try an agency then try just applying for jobs once you arrive.

Also I have stayed in 2 different apartments in vancouver and both I found on craigslist. They were a sub-let so the owner didnt want credit check or references just a security deposit. You ll have no problem finding a place to live. So I would say craigslist as the best place to look but be aware there is a lot of scammers on there too.
