Brookside in Edmonton- what's it like????
#1
Next month :scared: , we (fingers & toes crossed) should land in Edmonton. After a short stay in a hotel we will then move on to our rented townhouse in the Brookside area. Any comments on the area - good or bad???. My children will hopefully go to Brookside school, which seems to have a good write up and the head seemed very nice. Like I say any further info will be great!

Hi Linda. I just did a search on yahoo.ca and google.ca.They brought up loads about the school wich does look great and general stuff about he area. Its a very small family orientated area where everyone knows there neighbours and people are encouraged to make an effort in the community.
But these are just websites so you never know untill you have lived there really.
Hows things going with you all? Is it about 9 weeks now untill you are going ?We just accepted an offer on our house today so fingers x it all goes through smoothly, i bet i`ve just jinxed it ha. So we will see you there or if you fancy meeting up again before you go that would be great.
Take care Ali x

Hi Linda,
I have a sister that lives in Edmonton and I asked her if she knew about the area. She didn't know it well, but this is what she said: "Brookside is in the west end 142 to 144 St. and between 60th and 47th Ave, This area is just west of the University of Alberta Experimental Farm and adjacent to a large green belt (ravine)....off the Whitemud Drive (freeway). I have never been into the residential area, but it looks nice from Whitemud Dr. when you are driving by, plus Snow Valley Ski area is there, basically the area runs along a ravine, very pretty around there with all the trees and the valley.
There is a website called www.whereedmonton.com where you can search for the area "Brookside" in the search field. It brings up the school in the area, then I went to my map and found where it is Edmonton. Basically Brookside is a sub-division in the west end within the city limits. This site has some relocation links (at the bottom of the home page). "
Not much, but hope it helps. Good luck!
As my husband and I are probably moving to Edmonton, hopefully next spring, I'd like to know what is taking you out there.

Hi Kathleen,
Thanks for that, I'll check it out!
Hubby has always wanted to go to Canada, and after working with a Canadian nurse who was from Edmonton, he sold us on it
So Michael sat the nursing exam, passed and now has a job starting 11th April. You'll have to come and visit!
Where does your sister live?

Hi Linda,
Funny, my husband's name is Michael as well. I'm Canadian, but have been living in London for the past 6 years. My husband is English and is keen to move to Canada as we think we'll have a better life there.
My sister lives in North East Edmonton, but for the life of me I can't remember the name of the area. We're going to visit this September to see if we like it or not. I've only ever lived in Quebec and Ontario, so it will be a new experience for me as well.
Good luck with your move and your husband's new job.
