Well i had the interview and after an hour and a half, my ears are burning!
Did not expect the interview to be that long, dont know if that is a good thing or a bad thing!
They have told me that they still had two other people to interview, but would let me know either way by tomorrow.

In all honesty Brooks is a terrible place to live, the crime rate is very high to the point the local RCMP/Brooks Protective Services are struggling to cope, although they continue to recruit. The main problem as alluded to in a earlier post is with those who have been brought in to work at the meat packers. Violent crime is very high although it is tbh kept within the temporary immigrant workers who work at lakeside. To give you some idea of the demographics of the population there are 112 different languages spoken in Brooks. Brooks definitely offers good employment prospects but I would live elsewhere especially with a family. I work with quite a few people from Brooks who to a man would move if they could or have already done so. Try Med Hat/Redcliff easy drive along Hwy 1 in under an hour.

All good points so far, I personally live about an hour north of Brooks on HWY 36, in the outpost that is HANNA, still having a great time nearly been 6 months now,
Life in the ambulance service here is pretty sweet but i do know a paramedic in Brooks(their district borders ours) and there is a lot of violent Knife and gun crime amongst the african/east european immigrant population, to much like working back in birmingham for my liking.
however if you only have to work there, look around, living out here in the badlands the people are remarkably resourceful, friendly, helpful, and living is cheap,
if you are in the area stop by and say hi

Hi we rented a house in Hanna, 150 Winkler Drive 10 years ago, when we lived in Canada. It was a bit of a shock for the family compared to living in a Market Town in Suffolk. The town folk were very friendly and welcoming when we lived there for a year.
A couple of weekends ago at a family gathering in Maistone, my Dad said he will never froget staying in cowboy/pioneer town of Hanna in Alberta as it was so different to all the places he stayed on holiday.
I remember swimming in Fox Lake and by Sherness Power station.
Winter was really cold and my old VW suspension froze solid.
We found it too remote for us after a while and moved to Ontario for work.

I taught my son to ride his bike in the crescent when he was 4 years old. There were a number of Brits living in Hanna, have you come across any? They and I worked at the power station.
Has Hanna grown ?, as it was a town of 3000 when we lived there.
I am working back in the UK electricity generation industry and in the last few years I have met a lot of Brits similar age to me who worked in the same industry in Canada for 6-10 years then returned to the UK.
I hope you enjoy your time in Hanna as its a place we felt the most welcome by the locals.

Hi Folks,
Just an update, I got an E-mail late last night, saying that although i was by far the most qualified applicant to apply for the job, and the one who gave the most thorough answers to there questions, They needed somebody to start by the end of august ! ( which was'nt made clear originally)
They have said They are looking at the next best person for the job, who stay in a place called Duchess, which is apparently not far from Brooks. If this persons references check out, then they will be offered the job.
Maybe this is a blessing in disguise, considering some of the views on Brooks
That have been given. At least i know that wherever i do get offered a job,
There are so many helpful people on here to answer my questions.
I thank you all for the time , courtesy and effort in replying to this thread.

Hi Butch,
It is a little bit of a pisser, but generally what's for you wont go by you.
There are a few more irons in the fire, Although i have applications in for jobs in most of the provincies, The vast majority are situated in Alberta, Then in BC, then Ontario. So hopefully something will come to fruition soon.
