Broadband Availability Outside the Major Cities?
#17
I wouldn't be so sure... We're over 100 miles (280km) from the nearest city (and that's a little one - not a major city by any means!) and we have high speed internet (wireless). In the nearby village of Valemount (about 10 miles away from us) they have the option of wireless highspeed or going through Telus and getting broadband via the phoneline.

(I'm not a metric user but your translation looks as good as the CBC's, surely 100 miles is more like 140 kilohectares)

Ooops! Well I wasn't wrong - I did say over 100 miles
It was actually a typo when I put "180km in miles" into Google (the lazy person's conversion tool) when I meant to put 280km...

I live 9 miles out on a point on the Northumberland Straight and have high speed internet and skype. So does most of the North Shore of Nova Scotia.

They are certainly rolling out broadband in rural Nova Scotia. Mr Y-C-D was the Lead Tech on a very successful large project last year.

What's the availability of broadband outside of the major Canadian cities?
I'll need to apply for work (Nursing) outside the major cities as I'll need to keep things 'cheap(er) and cheerful', applying on one of the PNP programmes.
I would be so miserable without my broadband access, skype, etc... but hey! If needs must.
Just thought I'd broach the subject on the forum. Is broadband access outside the major cities widespread, personal, or communal, such as inside the local civic centre or library?
Thanks

My wife thinks we've got more pressing matters than broadband availability... and she's probably right!!

Hi,
We are on the North Shore of Nova Scotia - as rural as you can get - we have had wireless High-Speed 54Mbps for some time.
