British Columbia

I am originally from Scotland, live in Langley BC. I am 39 have a wife and two kids and not settling here very well after 6 years here. Looking to chat with someone in a similar mood about not liking Canada very much but not wanting to go home.
If you are a misery here and like a good moan get in touch. Also if you are struggling to find pals I am in the same place.

Welcome to the forum. This is a good place to have a nice moan. Shame you live in Langley though.

We were just in Langley last weekend for a dance comp, in Walnut Grove, it's a soul-deadening place. Went to McDonalds and people next to us were holding hands and praying, freaking Christians everywhere over there.

Can you move from Langley? I'm sorry to hear you are miserable.

Langley BC is not Canada. It's one very tiny portion of a very large country. Perhaps trying another area might be in order.

I went to Slough once. I hated the UK.

If you dislike your wife and kids, there're plenty of replacements in Canada - just look on the internet. Some of the women even come with different coloured children, a multicultural home from home

Welcome, fellow Langley resident here! Sorry to hear you're not settling well, care to elaborate? Perhaps we can help.

Re: British Columbia

OK. I have lived in Vancouver and most recently Burnaby. My wife is Scottish as well but my kids are born here. It is not Langley as such that is my problem it is certain aspects of my life. I have found it hard to make contact with like minded people and that is why I tried posting here. There must be another Scottish person over here who feels it is not all it is cracked up to be over here and is struggling to find a friend to chat to who feels the same.
We did toy with the idea of Nova Scotia but due to selling a house and finding work it never happened. Though in the brief time I went over there for a visit I found it friendlier than here.

Join things, volunteer and get involved. We cannot change other people, but we can change our own attitude to things.

/Obligatory "it's more than it's cracked up to be" comment.

Canada is like the best bits of the UK and the USA but without the shitty weather or gun toting bible thumpers.

Re: British Columbia

You have never visited the lower mainland then. It rains more here than it ever did in Scotland. Also there are no parts of Vancouver anything like the UK. Move here then if you believe the hype that this is the best place on earth. It is not.
God bless you.
:amen:
