Bringing a mobile phone from the UK

Hi,

I have permanent residency (have landed) but am still in the UK. I have a really old mobile and have been thinking of changing it but if I buy one here and suddenly get a job offer (applying at the moment) will I be able to bring it with me?

2 Questions really - Are SIM cards the same size and are there such things as ‘sim only deals’ in Canada (Ontario specifically) like you can get here?

Thank You

we did precisely this, bought our phones in the UK and now use Koodoo pre pay chips. We just swap in UK pre pay chips if when we visit the UK

Same here. We had unlocked iPhones we purchased at the Apple Store in the UK, and had been using them there with TMobile. When we moved to Canada, we got Koodo PrePay SIM cards. Now I have a phone purchased in Canada, but when we visit the UK, I get a SIM from WHSmith with minutes and data loaded on it to use while I'm there.

Sim cards are 3 standard sizes, no matter where you live - Standard, Micro or Nano - and most come with an adaptive frame to use in different phones called a multi sim card (3 in 1) :)

As above, yes, we brought 3 phones from england, just make sure they are carrier UNLOCKED and then they will work with any sim card. We use Virgin, Telus and Fido.
