Default Brandon, Manitoba?

Hi, I've just checked the Wiki guide and there isn't anything in there yet about Brandon and I was just wondering what it was like as I may have a possibility of a job offer there. Has anyone been or even lived there?

I assume the climate is very similiar to Winnipeg, but what is housing like there, nightlife, shopping etc and general employment opportunities (that is for my wife, a university Business graduate and qualified teacher although any kind of employment would be ok).

Any info would be great.

So one person thinks it's hell on earth (although I'm not sure if they are talking form experience or conjecture), one person says it's a nice prairie city and the weather is cold in winter which I knew would be the case. Any more information?

I am from Winnipeg. As for Brandon it's a decent little city - close enough to Winnipeg that you can always head over if you want better shopping and night life. Pretty cold in winter in both places but really nice summers!!

I've passed through several times - I'd say the most happening place there is Tim Horton's. People are nice though.

We went into town one evening, the bus driver asked us why, everything is closed!

Well the army moved there and they have move hills than Winnipeg for sure.

There is a Unversity and the best Juinor hockey team plays out of there " Brandon Wheat kings".

Been there serveral times but with youth soccer team so no experience of nightlife.

Probably a bit like Aldershot and Catterick.

Thing to do is check the www.brandon.ca and the www.brandonU.ca

sites and find out whats on there. Then look for your hobby, favorite activity and the try and find a web forum or webpage on it. The start asking the members /owners/ webmaster for information .

Hahaha. By who's definition are the Brandon Wheat Kings the best junior hockey team.

If best in the province then yes as they are the only WHL team in Manitoba

There is that -
but on the WHL website they are currently 2nd with 47 points 3 point behind the leader with FIVE games in hand.

Seems pretty good to me.

As I don't follow hockey I really couldn't say who is what on the forever stakes

Brandon has pretty much everything you could want for day to day living.

It's a nice little City.

The sourounding countryside is a little bumpier than around Winnipeg.

If you like nightclubs, smart bars, fancy restaurants, culture (Ballet, Symphony, Rock Bands) etc., etc., you will have to travel to Winnipeg (2.5 hours drive if you keep to the speed limit).
