Hi everyone!!
Just wanted some advice on which of these two areas would be a good place to set up home.
We are a young couple late 20's with an 18month old so we would be looking to get him into daycare when we arrive which won't be until April next year.
My husband has family in Brampton and they have an amazing 5 bedroom house, this is of course way too big for us. We are looking more at 3 bedrooms for first time buyers.
We have not travelled to Whitby before but I looked online at houses there and they seem to go for a good price.
In which area will we get value for our money, any other suggestions would be welcomed within Ontario but an hour of Toronto.
Thanks in advance

Somewhere like Cobourg might be a better option to the featureless sprawl of the GTA. (In my opinion)

Personally I wouldn't live in Brampton but would in certain parts of Whitby. One can discuss the featureless sprawl that 'transatlantic' claims is Toronto but IMO that is a gross exaggeration and I question how much knowledge of the GTA he truly has. It is a typical comment from those living in small towns in a great location. Very few people can find work in such places as Gananoque and if he did then good for him. Coburg is a very pleasant community but, as pointed out by Fledermaus, is considerably more than 60 minutes from Toronto
The GTA occupies a large swath of land but within there are some very pleasant family oriented neighbourhoods and dormitory communities.
