Default Books on Canada?

Hi.
I need a good read for the plane journey next week.
What I am after is a book on living in Canada. Not a travel guide like 'Rough Guide' or a book written by a travel writer like Bill Bryson. More a Canadian equivalent of 'A Year in Provence' or 'Driving Over Lemons.' A book about living in Canada written by a person who does, or was an immigrant.
Has anyone got any recommendations?
