Ruby Ruby. Wrong? What's that? Not right? What's that? Not Wrong?
You're really playing into my hands here.

Playground. Typical woman talk, they only know children so that's what they (you) understand as argument.

Have never read a 9 page throed before, but this one got more interesting as it went on!

If you don't like what someone said, ignore it and it'll go away. React and it perpetuates. Sticks and stones and all that.

It's a bugger moving somewhere and then finding it to be not what you expected or were led to believe. However as the OP is in the situation, who's fault it is seems immaterial. Perhaps something one experiences and posts can be of help to others and reduce the likelihood of them ending up in a similar situation.

I'm a firm believer in renting if moving somewhere new, even if you've lived there before, things change. With no firm roots for a few months it is easier to up sticks and move, cheap insurance. Buy straight away and then want to get out, that can be depressing and expensive.

Does not help the OP much, hope you find the way out you are looking for. Canada has been good to us, sorry to hear this has not been your experience.

Re: Biggest mistake?

I agree about the renting part. At least then your not completely tied to a place and it is less work should you want to up sticks and move on.

Well, why not... I'm in most of the other piles of craps threads. (intentional bad grammar for the pendants who don't understand irony).

I don't really like 'taking sides' in internet arguments... as they are usually based on miscommunication....

but I like you Stevie Weevie....

You told me that I was the only one to see that pic of you.

Can we get back to the important issues of Canadian tax returns as this thread seems to have gone adrift somewhere.

Smug? You make me want to throw up.

Oh dear. Sorry but I can't let that pass unremarked. (I've just read it... as I said elsewhere we had a dinner party last night... I wasn't online at all).

steve666, was I talking either to you or about you? As others have said, grow up. If that comes across as santcimonious or smug, then I'm sorry. What can you say when faced with such a puerile remark?

Here, as a while ago on the unlamented homeopathy thread, you appear to think that causing offense is your right, and to think, just like a teenager, that consequences don't apply to you so it's OK to pour on more rudeness and offensiveness on top.

This is the interwebby, the consequences are harder to perceive, but one of them is that many will find you to be a less than welcome addition to the board.

Ours was believing the answers to the questions we asked, especially about the town we live in............

During the first couple of months i kept forgetting the steering wheel is on the left.
Every time i went to the right door i would wipe the windows over so no one realised what i had done. I must have had the cleanest windows in Canada

.. Welcome to BE

14 months later and I still go to the wrong side of the car........occasionally. To reduce my look of stupidity I usually just pop my bag onto the passenger seat. Maybe I will alternate between that and cleaning the passenger window now ;)

God - I'm glad it's not just me !!! I'm forever putting my handbag on the front seat and casually sauntering round to the other side of the car

Clever with wordage. You're a stuck up northern old git. Fer sher. Your turn.

I was going to use an icon but can't be asked (can't be asked is a young people's term, you can't do that).

You really don't know what's going on here do you. Smug...yep, you are.

I bet you treat your wife like shite too.
