Default best rural internet?

I need to check out rural internat (or satellite or 4G) in Quebec.

The area we live can apparently not get ADSL through the telephone lines even though 1 street away, they have ADSL (maybe they didn't put in the infrastructure yet although it seem starnge to me, all they have to do is connect the cables up and sort the local exchange connection).
I can't use a mobile dongle as there is not enough monthly bandwidth, I would need at least 20Gb a month and I'd actually prefer unlimited.

Any recommended companies?

Is that different to their 4G service?

I don't know what 4G is. Here they offer line of sight and, where that's not possible, satellite.

We're in NS so now the same provider but we have what is called "Eastlink rural"... It's c.r.a.p.!

We have an aerial on the roof to pick it up and if son is playing on an online game and other son is watching netflix there is nothing left for us

Talking about Internet, here is a tip to save some $$$ for those living in HRM, NS.

I called Eastlink and told them that Bell Aliant is offering a much better service (unlimited 50MB download / 30MB upload) but charges less. I asked what offer they could give me before I decided to switch over. They gave me two options:
1. Add the TV bundle for free for one year, which is about $55 a month normally.
2. Upgrade my current 40MB download / 6MB upload to 80MB download / 8MB upload for about $40 cheaper each month for a year. I can't remember the precise figure as the billing is a bit weird. The first month I will only pay $28 instead of $110, then $70s for another 11 months.

I chose the option 2, so I saved about $500 with a better connection.

I think if you call them, they would give you the 3 month deal for a year, which is usually only for new customers for 3 months. For example, if your bundle is $99 a month for 3 months, then $163 regular price. You should get it for $99 a month for a year. Good luck!

We are paying $52 per month, so cheaper or about the same than the cable stuff we had in town and haven't noticed any difference, in the year we have had it the tower went down twice for almost a whole day due to storm strikes.

We lost our service for a couple of hours once due to some service provider related issue. We lose it more often, sometimes for days at a time, when there's no power. A generator is on the shopping list but so are lots of other things.

Does one have to install a generator "hook up" to power the house or are these things a regular fitting to rural properties?

We purchased a generator to enable to use power tools to repair and maintain our fences (primarily for a sander as we couldn't find a battery powered one anywhere).

There appears to be an outlet which can be used to power a property. Or is the object to run the generator near to the "crucial" appliances and use it as such?

We have Xplornet too and are happy with it. The speeds are not comparable to those we had with Shaw in the City but with 7Mb or so down and 1Mb or so up, it is plenty fast enough for our, and our kids', needs.
